May 16th - our first lock along the Flight to Oswego

Our first attempt at locking the 29 locks from Troy NY to Oswego NY...we didn't have any issues and it was easier locking through than we thought. We met WhyKnot as well as two individuals (78 and 68) who had taken their 18' Cobalt through all the locks (except for this last segment) on our journey.

The highlight of the trip was definitely when the Cobalt decided that they would attempt to pass us on our starboard side...the waves were larger than they anticipated and the 78 year old captain throttled through the wake in order to pass us...we met up with them again around 3:00pm after they had their afternoon nap.
